A GLOBAL MOVEMENT
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, celebrated in several countries, fueled by the power of powerful partnerships, contemporary collaborations, and strong social media engagement. #GivingTuesday is entering its seventh year.
Created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y—a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has been bringing people together around the values of service and giving back. Around the world, people from 98 countries participated in #GivingTuesday in 2016. In
2017, Global leaders of 50 countries were championing the movement.
In 2018, newer Global Leaders from Russia, Slovenia, Liberia, France, and South Africa will also participate from their respective countries. In Africa, Liberia is one of four countries with a #GivingTuesday’s Global Leader.
On November 27th, 2018, GivingTuesdayLiberia will host a major event in Liberia. The event will highlight and promote the vital charity work being done by nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, churches, and individuals across Liberia; while encouraging others to get involved.
Around the world #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities, and organizations working towards one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving and volunteering. A team of leaders, experts, and founding partners joined forces, collaborating across sectors, and worked tirelessly, to launch #GivingTuesday and have continued to shape, grow and strengthen the movement.
A number of organizations and individuals are joining the movement by signing up on this portal, stating how they plan to partner, give, or volunteer.
Most of Liberia’s progress can be attributed to the amazing work of nonprofit organizations, donors, and volunteers.
While we value the efforts of nonprofit organizations operating in Liberia, we also understand the challenges they face. This platform exists to provide support for all legitimate Liberian charities! We do this through our partnerships across Liberia and our Global Leader affiliation with 92Y—the organization that founded and supports the international #GivingTuesday movements amongst all global leaders. As the Global Leader for GivingTuedayLiberia, we work in collaborations to reduce or offset charity-related challenges in three ways.
- PARTNER— We partner with legitimate nonprofits operating in Liberia.
- EDUCATE— We educate our partners on fundraising for their organizations as a network to increase impact.
- CHALLENGE— We challenge our partners and all Liberians to join a national movement dedicated to improving the giving and volunteering culture in Liberia.
Join the movement – whether it’s some of your time, the power of your voice, your shared resource, or a donation, your act of giving something strengthen Liberia’s volunteer culture and giving movement to create a better Liberia through partnership!

WHO’s PARTNERING WITH US
People understand GivingTuesdayLiberia extends beyond financial donations. It is a culture of caring and serving while modeling the generous behaviors and humility of those who give and volunteer to improve the lives of Liberians every year. It’s a simple idea. Whether you come together with your family, your community, your company or your organization or school, people are finding ways to connect, to give back, and to share ideas.
NGO and Foundations – vetted tax-exempt nonprofits, certified for their transparency and legal status, are partnering for so many reasons, but the most important reason is to reach one goal: making Liberia better for everyone. We encourage our network to donate to these organizations with confidence because they have been vetted.
Corporates & Institutions – businesses, professional clubs, associations, and others are offering matching programs, making donations in cash or kind, offering their pro bono skills, making their facilities available, engaging in other acts of giving and volunteering, and organizing giving campaigns and events.
Ambassadors – Local in international Liberian celebrities, influencers and prominent citizens are lending their voices and time to inspire their followers to take up acts of giving and volunteering for GivingTuesdayLiberia.
Collaborators – organizations such as giving portals, crowdfunding platforms, volunteering portals, CSR Advisors, strategic giving advisors, and other philanthropic intermediaries who support the GivingTusedayLiberia movement with their resources, assets, partners, and special campaigns to promote giving and volunteering culture.
Schools and Churches – providing volunteers and activities, facilitating a prayer campaign during GivingTuesdayLiberia campaigns, and becoming messengers for the movements.
